Key Leader is a weekend when students learn to step out of their comfort zone. There have been many attendees over the years that have shown up the first day reserved and unsure how to interact with their peers. Over the course of the next couple of days, those same students step up to lead a group activity, volunteer to be first on the low ropes course, and are ready to jump in with an answer to a discussion topic.
These students can then translate their experience at Key Leader to becoming their Key Club president and leading their high school’s organization to new heights of involvement in the community. The saying “You learn something new everyday” should be taken a step further by striving to also challenge yourself to do something different everyday. Whether that is smiling at a stranger walking by, helping someone reach an item on the grocery store shelf, or writing a thank you card, even small acts of kindness can go a long way. We all grow through life experiences and the goal is to be able to apply those lessons learned to become a better person.
